Poem for Aileen

James Bowden

The warm light plays unevenly across my face. What are we?
I identify as an aesthetic, an organization. And so I organize
you to me, you whose lensing paints me so prettily. Can this
truly be the way you see me, woman? Am I to believe you,
proxy to that other: the world?
