For Antonia, next letter:
James Bowden
June Jordan has this poem that goes, I will not
love those who do not love me, I will be nobody’s
fool, and so on, I used to chuckle at its overly cynical
and cringe just a little bit, but this has made me consider
it more seriously.
I resolved not to text people who wouldn’t text me back, this year,
and I suppose that includes you at present. Nothing is that deep.
I harbor hurt, but not resentment.
Godspeed you (toward wherever you go).
See this poem.
