Prayer, Prarie, Gravy
July 27th, 2022“Late Prayer”, Jane Hirshfield
Tenderness does not choose its own uses. I’m going to follow this with some of my prayer poems simply because this reminded me of them. These are some of the shorter pieces that I’ve written, I suppose.
“Recognizance Prayer”, James Bowden
“Serenity Prayer”, James Bowden
This one is based largely on vocabulary from Anne Sexton’s “Jesus Suckles”, so enjoy that first perhaps.
That’s what it was. Gravy. This reminds me of what I was talking about in one of the recent blogs, about affirmations that can be repeated like this is the honey and this is water and this is the gravy. I just love the quality that gravy evokes in my mind. More savory than honey and water. More drawn out to the last drop, licked clean in quality.
“things people like to share:”, Nuar Alsadir
“What’s a bucket?”, Eve Blank and James Bowden
A first, a collaborative poem that I think turned out quite productive. Entrez le déluge. Enjoy.
Nice poem. Look at my drawing! Putting this last because, well, large and tree-ous.
